Title
Letter from Thomas C. Wales to Samuel Downer regarding a successful reunion
Description
In this letter, written on T. C. Wales & Co. letterhead, Thomas C. Wales begins by stating that a mistake in the spelling of his name resulted in someone named Thomas B. Wales taking his place. He then says that regardless of this mistake he still had a very pleasant time catching up with his old comrades and eating the excellent chowder and clams. He ends the letter by thanking Samuel Downer for a very pleasant reunion.

Friend Downer
I was intending to thank you for the splendid good Old “Free Soil” time I had on the 9th inst [sic] But I find that one little letter – B- instead of C- put another man in my place
Never mind. I did enjoy the meeting and shaking hands with many many old brother “Free Soilers of 1848.” And Mr Merrill (your partner) <insertion: can> testify to my indulging in the excellent Chowder and Baked Clams to my hearts (or appetites[)] Content. It was a very pleasant meeting all around and I do thank you for it
Yours truly
Thos C Wales
