About

The Town of Hingham, Massachusetts was incorporated as a town in 1635.  It was the 12th incorporated town in the Massachusetts Bay Colony and it has a rich military, commercial, and cultural history that the Hingham Public Library has been collecting since its opening in 1869.

The purpose of this website is to share some of the Library's materials in order to facilitate access to important historical information and documents that are relevant not only to residents of the town of Hingham, but also people in the rest of the county, state, and country.

Additional information about the Hingham Public Library may be found at www.hinghamlibrary.org.  Information specific to our historical collections can be found at http://www.hinghamlibrary.org/research-genealogy.html.
