Letter from Cyrus Brewer to Samuel Downer tentatively accepting his invitation to the reunion

In this letter, written on Hallett House letterhead, Cyrus Brewer thanks Samuel Downer for the invitation to attend the Reunion of the Free Soil Party. He then says that he his health is very impaired at the moment, but that if possible will attend the reunion.

Dear Sir,

I thank you for your polite invitation to the “Reunion” which you have arranged for the 9th inst.[sic]

My health is just now quite impaired, but if possible I shall most surely give myself the great pleasure of being present.
