Letter from Adin Thayer to Samuel Downer regarding speeches for the reunion publication

In this letter, written on Adin Thayer, Attorney and Counsellor at Law letterhead, Adin Thayer explains that he has delayed in sending a reply to Samuel Downer's letter because he was waiting to see if any of his friends in Worcester had speeches to contribute to the reunion proceedings publication. Only one of his friends, Albert Tolman, has a speech, but has yet to send it to Thayer, who does not wish to wait any longer for it. Thayer closes the letter by saying that they would like a copy of the proceedings.

My dear Sir

I have delayed replying to your kind letter until I could see all of our Worcester friends and ascertain whether any of them had intended making a speech at the clambake but I find that with one exception none of them had any speech prepared, one of them (Mr. Tolman) intended to say a few words + has promised to write me out his speech, but I do not think it worth while to wait longer for it.  We shall all be glad to subscribe for the proposed pamphlet.  With many thanks for your kindness.
