Unless I am hauled off from this beautiful world for good before that time, I shall do my best to sing “auld lang syne” with you on the Ninth of August. I have an old friend and coworker in the Liberty Party, here in 1844, who also fought the free soil fight in another state from ’48 on, whom I wish you would invite, if you can. I enclose his card.
