On the back of this postcard Francis Howe acknowledges receipt of his invitation to the reunion of the Free Soil Party and thanks Samuel Downer for it. He then regretfully states that he cannot attend, but wishes Downer a pleasant reunion. The front of this postcard is addressed to Samuel Downer. On the right side Downer has written Howe's name.
