Letter from Albert G. Browne to Samuel Downer recommending other men to invited to the reunion

Description

In this letter Albert G. Browne asks Samuel Downer to invite Richard P. Waters, William Ashby, and John G. Whittier to the reunion. He says that Ashby is elderly but still very healthy. He also says that these three are the only living men he knows of who attended the first convention in Essex County. There is a partially handwritten note at the top of the letter which mentions William Ashby.

I trust you may not omit to invite John G Whittier whom resides and Post Office address is Danvers  Mass. or Hon Richard P Waters, North Beverly. or Friend Ashby of Newburyport. now in his 92 year. but hale hearty …[illegible]… -

I believe the above are the only living Anti Slavery men who were at our first Convention in Essex County 183[MS. smudged] -
