Description
In this letter Theophilus P. Chandler states that he intended to thank Samuel Downer for organizing the reunion of the Free Soil Party in person, but has been unable to do so. He then says that it was an excellent idea and was well done. He closes his letter by saying that he wishes an annual meeting of former Free Soilers could be arranged at Downer's Landing.

Dear Sir,
I intended before this to have called and expressed my thanks for that pleasant meeting at the Launching, but have not been able to do so. It was a bright idea and splendidly carried out.
I wish the old party could organise into a club to visit Downer's Landing annually until the last member crosses the creek.
