My dear Sir,
I have pleasure of acknowledging the receipt of your invitation to a reunion of "Free Soilers of 1848" at Downer's landing on 9th inst[sic] –
I shall be happy to be one of the number to meet + greet + fraternal-ly congratulate old friends, + living witnesses of the triumph of princi-ples dear to the hearts of all men, whether native or foreign, who believe in free speech + free men + are now happy in witnessing the results of "Union + Liberty One + inseparable in our beloved and, no longer di-vided by sectional lines –
