This item is a photograph of the John Davis Long family plot located in the Hingham Cemetery. Long was a lawyer, politician, writer, Governor of Massachusetts, and United States Secretary of the Navy. He was born in 1838 and died in 1915. Various members of the former governor's family are buried in the plot, and there is a stone commemorating the governor there as well.
