History and Survey of the Negro Community in Hingham

This report, titled History and Survey of the Negro Community in Hingham, was written for the the Parish Life Conference on Race.  The conference took place on April 26-27, 1968.  It discusses the history of the African American community in the town of Hingham, Mass., including such subjects as early slavery, the abolishment of slavery, past and present segregation, and the difficulties the black community has in finding adequate employment and housing in the town.  It also focuses on the inclusion of the black community in the schools, clubs, and recreation in general.
