Title

Hingham Journal Article, "Light Board to Hold Public Debate Regarding $15 Million Dollar Purchase of Nuclear Power in Seabrook I, II, and Millstone III"

Description

This item is an article that was published in the Hingham Journal on September 13, 1979.  It discusses the fact that Laurence B. Stein, Jr. of the Hingham Light Board moved that the decision regarding whether or not to sign a $15 million dollar agreement to purchase power from the Seabrook and Millstone power plants be postponed.  His motion was not seconded, so a public forum was scheduled for September 17th.  The article goes on to discuss the fact that the cost of the power is more than many town budgets and the Bond Prospectus for 1979 is not accessible in many cases.  The article concludes by saying that Pat Granahan of REACH (Responsible Energy Alternatives Coalition of Hingham) was encouraging all residents to learn about the issue and voice their opinions at the public forum.
