Description
In this letter John N. Barbour thanks Samuel Downer for the invitation to attend the reunion of the Free Soil Party. He then states that he has misplaced the physical invitation, but would still really like to attend. He says that he greatly desires to see his old comrades, but would like to have the invitation with him when he comes tot he reunion. He asks Downer to send him a replacement, providing his address.

I rsd [sic] your kind invitation to attend the reunion, + have very cautiously[?] mislaid it. I would not miss meeting the "Old Guard" under any consideration + have not assurance enough to go without voucher
You know the rest + what to do. My office is the old Adams Office No 7 Doane St, a line through the Post Office will reach me
