Title

Letter from Alfred A. Hall to Samuel Downer requesting an invitation to the reunion

Description

In this letter Alfred A. Hall tells Samuel Downer that he read in the Transcript that there is going to be a reunion of the Free Soil Party. He then says that he was a Free Soiler in 1848 and was ridiculed by his Whig Friends. He asks if it would be possible for him to attend the reunion, as he would find it to be very pleasurable to attend.

Mr Saml Downer

Dear Sir

I learn by the Transcript that you propose having a reunion of the "Free Soilers of /48"

Now as I was one of that number that dared to "Stand up and be counted," and was called a fool by my Whig friends, it would be very gratifying to me, to have a chance to look in upon that body of men, if it was only through a back window.

How can I do it?

                Yours Respectfully
