Letter from Asaph Churchill to Samuel Downer accepting his invitation to the reunion
Also included is the back of the letter from Asaph Churchill.
July 30th 1877
My dear Mr Downer
Rarely, if ever, have I received a note calling of so many and so interesting recollections as yours. I had hardly supposed that the '48 of this century, would be ever thus revived. Hayes[?] and Smith and Wm Richardson and Downers Bowling Alley and Down-ers Speech at Dedham, and all that crowd, and all those things are here again! And if the same speech can be heard a-gain at "Downer’s Landing", in-stead of the Bowling Alley, it will go hard with me but I shall be there. It is not quite certain, that we do not still need it. It is my purpose to be there.
Very Respectfully yr[sic] friend
