Description
This item is a hand drawn sketch of various plots of land given to to the early settlers of Hingham, Mass. It shows the location of the plots, their owners, and when they received the land. The plots are all surrounding the Common, which contained Fort Hill and the Training Field. Three of the Common corners are labeled: Burr's Corner; Work House; and Jacob Cushing's. All of the plots were given between 1636 and 1638, with some of the more prevalent last names being Cushing, James, Thaxter, Sprague, Eames, Hull, and Leavitt. The sketch was created by George Lincoln in the 19th century.
